There is so much going on at Elementl! In addition to releasing version 1.0 of Dagster and launching Dagster Cloud, we are proud to announce that Elementl has successfully completed our Service Organization Control (SOC 2) Type I audit!
What this means for you
Anybody can say they follow data security best practices. SOC 2 gives you the confidence of 3rd party validation that we at Elementl practice what we preach when it comes to data security.
This audit provides assurances regarding how we monitor operations relevant to security, availability, processing integrity, confidentiality, and privacy.
What is SOC 2?
Service Organization Control (SOC 2) is developed by the American Institute of CPAs (AICPA) and defines the guidelines for managing customer data. The SOC 2 report is generated by a third-party auditor who inspects our security policies and confirms that we meet the trust services criteria set by the AICPA. There are two types of SOC 2 reports, Type I and Type II.
Type I focuses on what controls are in place at a point in time. Type II verifies that the controls are being followed and effective throughout a period of time. By passing Type I, this confirms that we have the policies and procedures established to meet the SOC 2 security standards.
Why we got SOC 2
Security is top priority for us since clients trust us with their data and workflows within Dagster. We’re always striving to create a great experience within Dagster and part of that includes keeping the data entrusted to us secure by establishing excellent internal controls, policies, processes, and procedures. We want our customers to feel confident about their data security.
What’s next?
SOC 2 Type I is just the first step and we’ve already started our SOC 2 Type II audit. We will continue to enforce the controls we’ve established and have a third-party auditor verify our results. Stay tuned for SOC 2 type II report update.
